UKZN ID CARDS

The University of KwaZulu-Natal ID cards section offers the following services:

  • Issue of UKZN ID cards for staff, student and contractor.
  • Replacement of lost / damaged / stolen UKZN ID cards for staff, student and contractor. (See conditions below)
  • Assigning of access to specified areas on campus.

Conditions for replacement cards:

Broken / Damaged / Lost cards: 

If you have broken, badly damaged (cracked / bent) or lost your ID Card, you will be required to pay for a replacement. The cost is R40.00, which is payable at the cashiers office. Upon payment you will receive a receipt which you must bring to us and a replacement card will be produced.

Worn cards:

If the print on your card is badly worn from normal wear and tear we will replace the card free of charge.

Stolen cards:

If your card has been stolen, we will replace it free of charge provided you present an affidavit from the police for when you reported it stolen.

Proof of identification:

If you wish to get a new card for whatever reason, you will be required to produce any positive proof of identification.
(i.e. ID Book, Passport or Driver's License)

STAFF ID CARDS

Staff are required to bring their Staff Confirmation of Employment letter (issued by HR) to the RMS ID Card office in order to be issued with your ID card.

STUDENT ID CARDS

 1st Year Students

Bring your Proof of Registration slip together with your ID document to the RMS ID Card office in order to be issued with your ID Card.

Returning Students

Bring your Proof of Registration slip together with your existing Student ID Card to the RMS ID Card office where it will be re-validated for the present year of study.

CONTRACTOR ID CARDS

UKZN ID cards will be issued to all permanent or temporary contractors working at the University of KwaZulu-Natal for periods of three weeks or more.

FAULTY ID CARDS

Please proceed to the RMS ID Card office and ask the operator to check your ID Card, who will notify you accordingly should your card be faulty, requires re-encoding or replacing.
