Damaged / Lost Access Cards

Damaged Cards​

Damaged campus ID cards can be replaced free of charge if it has been determined by the ID Card & Parking Permit Office as normal wear and tear.

If the card has been cracked, bent, torn, warped due to exposure to the sun or if holes have been punched through it, the replacement fee will be charged before a new card will be issued.

Lost / Stolen Cards

In order to prevent any loss of funds, Lost or stolen campus ID cards need to be reported immediately so the campus ID card can be deactivated immediately. (Done at the ID Card & Parking Permit Office). In turn, this will also prevent any unauthorised individuals accessing the campuses using your card.

NB: You will be held responsible for any unauthorised use of the lost or stolen card if not reported immediately to Risk Management Services.

Please remember to check at both the RMS Security Office or ID Card & Parking Permit Office to see if your card was handed in before replacing your lost or stolen card.

Lost or stolen campus ID cards need to be reported immediately and can be done so via the following options:

  • RMS Offices on the respective UKZN campuses. (Locations)
  • ID Card & Parking Permit Offices on the respective UKZN campuses. (Locations)
 

Costs for Replacement Cards

Payments for the card should be made at the cashier’s office, the receipt should then be presented, together with your ID Book / Passport at the ID Card & Parking Permit Office for the new card to be issued.

IF YOUR REQUEST IS DUE TO A CHANGE OF NAME, a new card can be issued free of charge upon it being captured on ITS and acceptance of the evidence of your name change by Home Affairs.
